Shadow and Bone Netflix Adaptation Surpasses Source Material

Netflix's Shadow and Bone has apparently found that sweet spot where the adaptation actually improves on Leigh Bardugo's original books by diverging from them. The fantasy adaptation space has been absolutely stacked lately—there's competition everywhere—but Shadow and Bone managed to earn genuine fan praise by taking creative risks. Sometimes showrunners know their medium better than authors know their own work, and that seems to be what happened here.
